Welcome to Preschool! Learning is all about hands on experiences and exploring the world around us. Documenting this journey is one of the most precious jobs of teachers, caregivers, and especially parents, because this special time won’t be around forever. What might look like a playground to a grown-up could be the tallest mountain ever traversed. It could be a pirate ship on the far off seas looking for buried treasure. While the imagination is flying away to new heights, the children are learning and growing. They are exploring why the world works a certain way and making scientific observations about the things that they see. They learn about interpersonal relationships and how to accomplish goals while working well with others.
This is the important work that is done every day at Good Shepherd Lutheran Preschool. Fostering that growth is what raises children up to be well rounded, healthy, functioning members of society equipped for service for the church and world. Added to the important growth activities such as imaginative play are learning numbers and letters, daily story time, learning the calendar and the weather, and of course, plenty of Bible stories and learning about Jesus. Once the children are ready for kindergarten by age, they are more than equipped in the academic, spiritual, and social skills areas as well.
