STATEMENT OF COMMUNION PRACTICE
The Lord’s Supper is celebrated in this congregation in the confession and glad confidence that, as He says, our Lord gives into our mouths not only bread and wine but His very body and blood to eat and to drink for the forgiveness of sins and to strengthen our union with Him and with one another. Our Lord invites to His table those who trust His words, repent of all sin, and set aside any refusal to forgive and love as He forgives and loves us, that they may show forth His death until He comes.

Because those who eat and drink our Lord’s body and blood unworthily do so to their great harm and because Holy Communion is a confession of the faith confessed at this altar, any who are not yet instructed, in doubt, or who hold a confession differing from that of The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, and are unable to receive the Sacrament are invited to meditate on God’s Word in the distribution hymns and pray for the day when divisions will have ceased. If you have any questions regarding our practice, please review the “Fellowship in the Lord’s Supper” brochure or visit with Pastor Poppe, Pastor Berndt, or one of the elders before the service.

DIVINE SERVICE - SETTING FOUR/LSB 203 (8 am)

Welcome and Prayer

Opening Hymn “Christ By Heavenly Hosts Adored” LW 499

Christ, by heav’nly hosts adored,
Gracious, mighty, sov’reign Lord,
God of nations, King of kings,
Head of all created things,
By the Church with joy confessed,
God the Son forever blessed,
Pleading at your throne we stand,
Save your people, bless our land.

On our fields of grass and grain
Send, O Lord, the kindly rain,
And throughout this spacious land
Crown the labors of each hand.
Let you kind protection be
Over commerce on the sea.
Open, Lord, your bounteous hand;
Bless your people, bless our land.

Give us rulers faithful, true,
Such as love and honor you;
Let the powers you ordained
Be in righteousness maintained.
In the peoples’ hearts increase
Love of piety and peace.
Thus united, we shall stand
One wide, free, and happy land.

In this free land by you our lot is cast;
Oh, be our ruler, guardian, guide and stay;
Your Word our law, your paths our chosen way.

From war’s alarms, from deadly pestilence
Make your strong arm our ever sure defense.
Your true religion in our hearts increase;
Your bounteous goodness nourish us in peace.
