The Rev. Lance D. Berndt, son of Richard and Peggy Berndt was born in Miami, Florida. He graduated high school from Gulliver Preparatory in Kendall, Florida in 1987. He graduated from Miami Dade Community College with an Associate of Arts in Physical Fitness in 1991 and graduated from Trinity International University, South Florida Campus in 1998 with a degree in Sports Management. In the fall of 1998 he began his study at Concordia Theological Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri, where he received his Master of Divinity degree in May of 2003.
Lance has been active in a number of local community centers in his years in Miami as a coach to the youth in basketball, soccer, softball and other sports. He also assisted in running a number of summer camps and sports leagues during his time in South Florida. Lance also was proud to work with his father Richard Berndt for State Farm Insurance for over twelve years.
He served under The Rev. George E. Poulos, Jr. as Youth Director and assisted with Confirmation Classes at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Miami, Florida from 1993-1998 when he entered Seminary. While Lance was in St. Louis, MO, he served as field worker to Holy Cross Lutheran Church in O’Fallon, Missouri under The Rev. Keith Wachter and The Rev. Matt Hoehner. He assisted in leading worship as the reader and liturgist, delivering children’s messages, preaching sermons and bible studies.
Lance married Kimberly (Small) in 1995. They have been blessed with two daughters, Autumne and Amberlyn, as well as son Dakota.
Lance served as Vicar to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in 2001 and accepted a call back to Good Shepherd in May of 2003 to serve with The Rev. Clint Poppe. He was Ordained and Installed as Associate Pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on August 3, 2003.
